How A Vehicle Washer System Works
The washer fluid container is found in the engine compartment and you have to have fluid in it for the system to work. When you turn the switch on in your vehicle to spray the fluid out, it sends a signal to the pump that’s inside the container with fluid. The pump will then pump the fluid through tubing and it comes out through the spray nozzles that are located on the hood of the vehicle or sometimes on the wiper arms. The fluid sprays on the windshield while the wipers move back and forth to clean your windshield and improve visibility.
What Can Go Wrong With Your Washer System?
Your washer system is very simple, but it can experience problems over time. You could have a bad switch, a malfunctioning pump, a leaking fluid tank, or the fluid could freeze inside your tank. However, if you use a good quality washer fluid, then you shouldn’t have to worry about it freezing. Sometimes the spray nozzles could get clogged as well from either the washer fluid or debris from the vehicle. The spray nozzles can often be cleaned, but can also get to the point where they need to be replaced.
