In the spirit of Earth Day on April 22, we want to talk to you about how you can recycle your old vehicle tires. Many people don’t know that their tires are 100% recyclable. So when you get your tires on your vehicle replaced, ask the mechanic shop what they do with them afterward. Or better yet, ask for them back and find some creative ways to repurpose them. The worst thing that can happen is to throw them in the landfill, so consider these other uses for your old tires instead.
Make A Tire Swing
Tire swings are one of the most classic swings for kids and every kid loves them. It’s simple enough to loop a rope around it and hang it from a strong tree limb and have a swing to provide countless hours of entertainment. Just make sure the tire is not worn to the point where any steel pieces are coming through the tire so it is safe to climb on for your kids.
Make A Tire Planter
A tire planter is one of the most creative uses for old tires and you can achieve it in a couple of different ways. You could dig into the ground and set the tire in the hole or simply place it on the surface. Consider decorating the tire to match the decor of your yard and fill it with soil to create the perfect little planter. You could make four small planters with your tires or stack them on top of one another to make a couple of bigger ones if you have larger plants.
Create A Soft Bed For Your Dog
Another creative use for old tires we’ve seen is making a dog bed out of them. People have painted the tire and added a soft bottom to it, then fill it with soft bedding for your dog to lay on. They will appreciate having a bed that’s slightly raised from the ground and will have a comfy spot to lay on when they are spending time outside.
Take a look around you to see the many other creative ways people use old vehicle tires. The last thing you want to do is throw your old tires in the landfill, especially when they have so many other uses.
