Being the damsel in distress is not as glamorous as they portray it in the movies, this we know.

You may have found yourself wishing the knight on the white horse was on his way to “save the day.” I think your mama probably set you straight on that one. ;)

Today we do have it pretty easy though. The cell phone,  AAA or roadside assistance, the GPS locator. It gives us a sense of safety and ease. I don’t want to burst your bubble here with a loud siren that screams, "you are fooling yourself." I like subtle. There are times and circumstances when you are really going to be stuck. With a little bit of knowledge you could turn a looming three hour wait and towing expense around.  Just by using the ol’ noggin’ and a little elbow grease, you can become your very own hero.

Troubled woman at the mechanic handling the keys of the car

Imagine if  you could turn your experience of  getting your vehicle repaired completely around.

Did you ever feel that when you are at the shop and the service guy is telling you what is needed to fix it that you slip into “blah blah I can’t hear you.” It’s like you are being spoken to in another language.

Many facilities don’t take the time to educate or to explain to their clients (male or female) what their vehicle needs and why. Being intimidated or overwhelmed can really turn a routine maintenance situation or an unexpected repair into a daunting experience. Being able to ask the right questions, and have a bit of knowledge can result in a much more pleasant encounter.

Females spend an enormous amount of time in their vehicles. Juggling work, home, kids, sports and recreational time. It makes a lot of sense for you to have an understanding of what your vehicle needs. If your kids eyes are watery and they are sneezing, I bet you could probably narrow those symptoms down to something you recognize and treat or make the decision to go to the doctor.

About Our Women’s Auto Seminar

On October 19th, we will be hosting our Women’s Car Care Clinic. It is a great opportunity for you to come in for just a few hours and get an enormous amount of education about your vehicle. The clinic is free to our customers and starts at 2 PM, space is limited, so please reserve your seat in advance by calling 973-827-4047 or clicking here. As a special bonus, Lourdes of the Vine will be presenting a wine tasting and pairing following the seminar.

The seminar will be presented by our very own Colleen. She really runs the show over here at DeBoer's Auto. She doesn't just talk the talk (which she does eloquently) She is an absolute cracker jack in, on, above and below just about any vehicle. She’s going to teach you some very important information about your vehicle. You can expect to gain a bit more independence, time and money.

Getting your hands dirty isn’t such a bad thing

Topics you can expect discussing: fluids, filters, belts, brakes and tires; we'll show you the different physical components of your vehicle; and even demonstrate in great detail how to jump start a battery and check the pressure and treads on tires. FEAR NO MORE!  Learning by getting up close and personal is the kind of knowledge that reading a book just doesn't quite deliver!

Understand the importance of educating women about their cars.

You aren't going to let a little auto mechanics scare ya, are you??

If you are thinking about attending, even considering it. Do yourself a huge favor and come. What do you have to lose? That would be a big fat NOTHING! What you have to gain is a lot! When we ran this clinic in the past, we were surprised and thrilled to learn how many women wanted to learn about auto repair and maintenance.

what our past attendees had to say

Concern: The info discussed would be over your head:

"I didn't feel like a dumb chick that was being talked down to! I'd attend again and a girlfriend of mine is willing to drive up from Jackson, NJ, to attend with me!"

Concern: Too intimidating:

"It was amazing and inspiring; I learned a lot and would recommend it to others."

Concern: Not sure if it would be worth your time.

"I thought I knew so much, boy was I wrong! The material was so valuable and well-presented well."

If you’d like to be notified about future seminars, contact us at DeBoer’s Auto and we’ll put you on our reminder list!
