Saab Takata Airbag Recall Underway

By Bill DeBoer on May 23, 2017 8:38:00 AM

Takata Corp. announced last year that airbags in more than 42 million vehicles and 33 different car brands were defective. Included in the recall are Saab 9-3 model years 2006-11 and Saab 9-5 model years 2006-09. This recall is being done with an abundance of caution as there have been no known issues with Saab airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said owners of these vehicles are being notified this spring.

There are approximately 100,000 Saabs affected by the Saab airbag recall. The first group to receive notifications this spring (about 30,000) were all Saabs that have been registered in high-humidity states. These states include Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Lousiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas. The remaining affected Saabs (about 70,000) were notified in April.

Please call us -- your Saab Official Service Center -- to schedule an appointment if you haven't already done so. We ask for your patience, because with so many Saabs involved, it'll take time to perform all the recalls.
