Buying a new car often seems like the only sure way to get a good, reliable vehicle. But brand new cars lose so much value as soon as you drive them off the dealer's lost that it might seem like a foolish investment. If you've decided that you want to be more financially responsible and buy a car after it's lost all that unnecessary depreciation, you don't have to settle for the risk of any old used car. Certified pre-owned Hondas can be a very good option, but you need to understand the facts about what certified and pre-owned really mean and whether you should choose one.

Multi-Point InspectionsAsk the right questions when shopping
When you buy a used car, it can be anyone's guess as to what kind of condition it is in or how well the vehicle was maintained. You can greatly minimize your risks in buying a used car when you choose a Certified Pre-Owned car. However, there are different programs that certify used cars, and not all of them are created equal. Whether you choose the Honda affiliated Certified Pre-Owned program or by a car that is certified by private auto dealerships, make sure the certifying program includes a multi-point inspection of all of the vehicle's systems. DeBoer's Auto offers everything that the Certified Honda program does, and more. We have Pre-Owned Hondas that exceed standards for certified Honda cars, and we offer warranties that extend past certified pre-owned Honda warranty coverage.

Manage Expectations
Certified cars must meet certain minimum standards of age and mileage, and are then placed through a series of tests and given an extended warranty. But even though the Certified Pre Owned, or CPO, program is designed to provide some reassurance that you're less likely to buy a lemon, this status doesn't mean that the car will be perfect. When you're looking to buy a car, you also want to have a relationship with a company that cares about you and your satisfaction with your car. Although the Certified program is acceptable, DeBoer's Auto goes a step further and provides the personal touch you desire. Check out DeBoer's Auto for your alternative to the Certified Honda Pre-owned car program.

Know What the Warranty Covers Get Our 5 Car Buying Tips
When you buy a Certified vehicle, you value the extended warranty that comes with it. But what that warranty actually covers can vary by manufacturer. Some companies, like Mitsubishi, offer a 10-year warranty, which covers a limited powertrain warranty. The Certified Pre-Owned program extends the original five year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty by an additional two years and 40,000 miles, making the total warranty period seven years and 100,000 miles.  The Coverage is calculated from zero odometer miles and the original purchase date. This means your actual remaining coverage may be significantly les sthan you would expect.  CPO warranties also offer an additional warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles. DeBoer's Auto offers warranty coverage that exceeds the terms available with a Certified Pre-owned Warranty.

Many car buyers are confused about just how long the warranty period lasts when they purchase a Certified Pre Owned car and which services are covered, so it's important to ask questions about these details before you buy. An informed customer is more likely to be a satisfied customer, and we want you to be happy with your next Used Honda.
