This has created tension for local businesses that rely on people in their neighborhood to support their company. While services, such as [local auto repair shops](https://www.deboersauto.com/services), still thrive, it’s important for consumers to **consider the impact of a “shop local, buy local” approach**. **![positive-impact-of-buying-and-being-local-deboers-auto](https://www.deboersauto.com/hs-fs/hub/354552/file-1904238398.jpg)1. Support Yourself** When you turn to a shop for local auto repair, it may seem like you are supporting their business alone; however, you are also supporting yourself and other businesses in your area. Whenever you buy from a local company, you enable them to do the same for other local businesses. **2. Reduce Environmental Impact** Everyone is looking for ways to help the environment. Local auto repair shops can help you take steps toward a healthier environment. Instead of driving long distances, you can get the repairs and service your car needs right in your own backyard. **3. Put Your Taxes to Good Use** Looking for “[auto repair near me](https://www.deboersauto.com/blog/no-need-to-bring-your-valvoline-coupon-our-customer-loyalty-program-saves-you-money-every-visit)” ensures your taxes are put to good use. This is because your tax dollars will go toward maintaining these buildings and the surrounding infrastructure of your town instead of toward supporting national businesses. **4. Encourage a Flourishing Economy** The state of the local economy is one of the best reasons to *shop local, buy local*. Historically, entrepreneurs and investors are more likely to settle and invest money in communities where citizens support the local economy over national chains. **5. Support Community Groups** Many people like to support their favorite charities with donations; however, you can further your efforts by using local auto repair shops. Small businesses are more likely to offer their support for community groups when they are prospering. **![Community](https://www.deboersauto.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Community.png?width=500&name=Community.png)** **6. Create More Good Jobs** In recent years, job growth has been a serious concern. Local auto repair means your repair shop will need to hire more technicians to handle the work load. When you take your car to a local shop, **you are encouraging job growth.** **7. Make Your Own Choices** Much of the consumer world is driven by what companies want you to buy. This is especially true on a national level. When you turn to local businesses instead, you can buy what you need when you need it. **8. A Unique Community** Every community has something unique to offer. When you turn to local auto repair shops for your needs, you are contributing to the qualities that set your town apart from the others. The character of a locality can greatly change when more national companies move in. **9. Better Service** Most people recognize a small, family-owned business provides more personalized service than larger, national companies. If you are looking for local auto repair, you can expect a higher level of customer service without negatively impacting the quality of work of the parts used. **10. Invest in Your Community** Communities with a stable economy are more likely to attract long-term residents. For this reason, buy local, shop local can be seen as an investment in your community and its future.
