U-Haul at your servicefor all your truck and trailer rental needs!

Need to pick which company to rent from? Maybe these quick tips can help!

Let's start with the truck features:

U-Haul The Other Guys

-offers a low deck for easy access

-EZ load ramp is shorter with the low dock height, making the ramp more manageable, sturdy, wider, and is 50% easier to load

-The comfortable cab has a low profile and easy entry

-Penske and Budget trucks offer dock height, commonly used for commercial use

-Ramp attachment provided is narrow and wobbly due to higher loading deck height

-Cab and seating in a Penske and Budget truck is set up like a high profile freight truck

Next, we go over convenience:

U-Haul

U-Haul offers over 15,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada for pickup and dropoff. This helps keep the mileage down on the trucks and saves you some money!

U-Haul also provides a wider range of equipment! Truck sizes range from 10 feet to 26 feet in many variations in between. The trailers include EZ load ramps and can come enclosed or open. They carry cargo, cars, utility equipment like lawnmowers. U-Haul offers 9 foot cargo vans, and transportable U-Box storage containers.

The Other Guys

Competing companies have about 1,500 locations in the U.S. and Canada. This means you will be driving more to pickup and dropoff, racking up those miles and spending more of your money.

The equipment offered with Penske and Budget are not as variant. Truck sizes range from 10 feet to 26 feet in commercial freight style, with not many options in between. They also only offer the standard car trailers, but not trailers that carry cargo and utility equipment.

Now, I am sure you are wondering how other people's experiences have gone with these companies:

U-Haul The Other Guys
Customer reviews have averaged out a score a 4.22 out of 5 Customers have rated competing companies on average about 3.81 out of 5

U-Haul gives price breaks if, for some reason, your reservation is altered. They have a flexible policy on changes to your reservation made by you. Same-day rental and special offers are provided as well. Plus, there are clear and precise safety features on each U-Haul piece of equipment, and roadside assistance is offered. Also, there are many different options for insurance, including a choice of opting out.

Competing companies also offer roadside assistance and the occasional same-day rental. Penske and Budget provide promotions and discounts are but, ONLY IF the customer can find them. Safety features are provided on Penske and Budget trucks. And, you are most likely to get your preferred pickup location.
BUT, sometimes U-Haul is not able to provide pickup or dropoff at your chosen and preferred location, due to equipment availability.  Prices and rates will vary with Penske and Budget based on the deal you find. Reservations are not allowed to be modified online, you must call. Competitors gear their sales more towards commercial use because of the freight styles of the truck. The safety features can be unclear sometimes, and the insurance options are confusing.
