That early exposure turned into a career, and he’s now honing his skills at DeBoer’s Auto, where he’s excited to grow as both a technician and a diagnostic specialist. A New Challenge & A Clearer Path Before joining DeBoer’s, Angelo worked as a technician at a rental company. While it gave him experience, he was looking for something different—a place where he could further his education, refine his skills, and be challenged beyond what was expected of him at his previous job. At DeBoer’s, he’s found that opportunity. Moving from a corporate environment to a privately owned shop has been a big change. At DeBoer’s, the goals are clearer, and the expectations are higher, but that’s exactly what Angelo wanted. The strong sense of teamwork, leadership support, and emphasis on training have given him a path to grow and excel in his craft. From Basic Repairs to Diagnostics Mastery Like many technicians, Angelo started with basic services—brakes, tires, and routine maintenance. Over time, he became increasingly interested in the diagnostic process. Learning how to troubleshoot complex issues has been both a challenge and a passion. One of the biggest lessons he’s learned is the balance between speed and accuracy. He understands that every minute a customer is without their car impacts their daily life, and he takes pride in making sure his diagnostics and repairs are both efficient and precise. His goal is to ensure customers get back on the road safely and as quickly as possible. The Tools & Skills of a Great Technician Angelo relies on a range of tools to get the job done, including: Ratchets, wrenches, and impact guns for mechanical work Diagnostic tools like Roxy, TPMS tools, and VIN readers to identify and troubleshoot issues efficiently When it comes to skills, he believes problem-solving is the most important trait a technician can have. Overcoming obstacles quickly saves time, money, and frustration for both the technician and the customer. Excited for the Future: EV & Advanced Diagnostics Angelo is deeply interested in the rise of electric vehicles (EVs). He’s already had the opportunity to work on Teslas and Polestar EVs, and he’s eager to continue learning. He knows that staying up to date with new technology is crucial—not only for his own career but also for the future of the industry. While EVs are an exciting challenge, he’s also dedicated to mastering diagnostics on traditional engines. His goal? To become an expert in both fields, ensuring he’s ready for whatever the future of automotive repair brings. Advice for Future Technicians For anyone considering a career in auto repair, Angelo has one key piece of advice:  Choose a path you love.
